Scattering asymmetry and circular dichroism in coupled PT-symmetric chiral nanoparticles

Abstract We investigate the scattering properties of coupled parity-time (PT) symmetric chiral nanospheres with matrix formalism. The exceptional points, i.e., spectral singularities at which eigenvalues and eigenvectors simultaneously coalesce in parameter space, can be tailored by chirality nanospheres. also calculate scattering, absorption extinction cross sections PT-symmetric scatter under illumination monochromatic left- right-circularly polarized plane waves. find that section nanostructures exhibits an asymmetry when waves are incident from loss gain regions, respectively, especially broken phase, optical circular dichroism, differential is endowed chirality. In particular, linearly without intrinsic chirality, ellipticity scattered fields forward direction, denoting light, becomes larger PT-symmetry-broken phase. Our findings demonstrate control enhance chiroptical interactions pave way for studying resonant light–matter non-Hermitian photonics.
